Story 2 ideas, Group B

Please submit your story ideas for Story 2 here.
You can pick one from the list (posted elsewhere on this blog) or propose one of your own. The best story ideas would come from your beats.
Here are two ideas that might make good stories for the off-campus beat and the trouble beat:
- McGoff Hill is the road leading south away from the Stonehenge parking lot. Halfway down the hill, you'll see a big sinkhole. A lot of drivers steer around it. At least one LSC student -- a TV major -- damaged his oil pan driving through it, probably a costly repair. How long until the town gets around to fixing it? Who could answer that question?
- Arizona's legislature is considering a proposal to allow students over 21 and faculty carry guns on college campuses. What do LSC administrators think? Would a similar law in Vermont make LSC safer or less safe? (This is called localizing a national story.)

Remember: Without a story idea submitted by the deadline (Feb. 28 in this case), you can't get a higher grade than a C on your subsequent story.
The story will be due Monday March 7.

Story idea beat = money

LSC students are going to Montpelier to lobby for higher state apropreation. What they hope to accomplish, what are future plans and what can other college students do to help.

Trouble is my beat, so I'll take this one.

Spring preview: Lacrosse

The lacrosse team is coming off their first ever season with a playoff appearance. The team has an array of returning starters, and the team is optimistic about this year.

Story beat: Money.

LSC is planning to expand its scale of school in terms of student number, especially international students. What's the difference between expense on campus between the US and, for example, China? Expense will be the element that international students would pay great attention to besides tuition fee.

Beat- Health

Nationally the cost of produce is on the rise. Poor global weather conditions have hurt crops all over and now with the hike in oil prices transporting the produce we do have has become more expensive too. To cope with the current crisis some restaurants like Wendy’s has removed tomatoes from their sandwiches and will only put them there upon request. I was curious to see how this is affecting the college dining hall and their ability to provide students with fresh healthy produce.
